In my room turkeys are beginning to appear ...
This is just a fun game veteran teachers have been using for years to build sight word knowledge. If you have ELL's change it out a bit and have them come up to the pocket chart and use a sentence such as, "The word is here." This is a quick and easy routine you can do daily and keep it fresh by changing out the graphic! I repeat sight words that I want them to practice with greater frequency.

Thanks for the idea! We use Jolly Phonics and introduce 2 new "tricky words" each week. I'm always looking for ways to keep practicing the old while introducing the new.
The turkey's came to my room overnight as well... mysterious.
What a cute idea!
Rowdy in First Grade
Just started a similar game with my kiddos for their pocket chart center and they love it!
This is so cute! Are these cards available to purchase? I would love to use them! :)
Fran what a cute idea. This gave me an idea for my kinders but we are still having trouble with our capital and lowercase letters so I made a set like yours with only letters. Your turkeys are cuter but I had to work with what I had in Word. But I like the sight word game, we are only working on about 5 words so I plan on repeating them on my turkey cards too. Thanks for the idea!
Kinders on the Block
I do it for letters and numbers too!
If I have time I will post these. Here's the thing- repeat the ones they need more practice with. So chunk the information you want to practice. Does that make sense?
Hey Fran! Your post totally inspired me to make a game like this. Check out my post if you have time :)
