Pete Must Love Converse Sneakers!

So I have been working hard to create my first TpT  unit of study for the beginning of kindergarten. This is really designed for those early weeks of school when our kids are still crying and come with very little academic experience. Oh my... I need to brace myself. When I created this strip book I put a color clue next to each shoe to help those students who need more work on recognizing these words. I am making big cards to be used in your pocket chart. My little book is made and I am moving on to some other simple activities. Maybe they won't cry once they become engaged in learning... okay, maybe not. Any other suggestions you wish I would make?  I know I need some writing activities too. Hummm. Right now I am making 4th of July cupcakes.

I might post this and give it as a freebie because I love how it turned out. I make headbands for everything. I cannot resist seeing a five year old wearing one of my silly creations. I even have a headband that they make on the very first day of school. Do you like headbands too?

I have never heard of Pete the Cat before? Is it a popular children's series in America? Also, Fran, did you ever end up posting your "whats in a name" activity? What program did you use to make it because I would love to personalize it for my kiddies next year.
Thanks,

Thanks Deedee,
I am taking the plunge but I needed someone to create the clip art and that was a real challenge to find.
I really appreciate your encouraging words. I will see how it goes! Another project to take on... pretty exciting.

He is too cute!! I am with you on needing to brace myself for those first weeks. I think it's like child birth... you forget how rough it is until you are in that moment! ;) Good thing it only happens once a year.

Karen @ A little kinder told me so!

Fran, I will support your TPT effort. I am grateful for you re-charging my teaching after 33 years. I never knew about Pete the Cat. And yes, I am a big headband lady. Sometimes I wear one with a sight word on it. I use them for all and "no" occasions. Rebecca

I'm with Becca. You have so re-charged me. I can't wait to see what you have next. I have fallen in love with Pete and sing his song around my house(family thinks I lost it) Good Luck with TPT and thanx.

I love for my kids to wear headbands too. They are so cute! We even wear them to lunch just to show off their cuteness!
I voted for you in the Really Good Stuff contest. Even though I don't teach kindergarten and can't use many of your resources, I think you have amazing ideas. I have taken some of your ideas and bumped them up a little for first (my team loves the pattern strip book- advanced version!) You will be very successful on TpT.

Hi Fran, I didn't want to make my comments public so since you have to read this first that works out great! I tried to email you but I don't have Outlook. :( Anyway, I just wanted you to know that your Pete the Cat unit looks adorable! I have a unit out but it is different from yours so I hope you will still post yours on TPT. That will be a great unit to post first. :) I can't wait to buy it!! I LOVE your blog!!

Hi, Love your blog. I live in Australia. In the pic with the headband strip, is the red tool your circle die cutter?
I've never seen anything like this before.
I only circle punchers
Thanks Carmel

Hi Fran! I love this idea. Is there a place where you sell your items that are not freebies? I checked Teacher pay Teachers and could not find you. Thanks so much!

How do you make these? I don't want to steal your thunder, but I love your ideas and I am wondering how you are able to find these cute pictures and fonts? Any tips will help! Thank you.
