Another Birthday Celebration

My husband is the king of rhyming and he helped me create this little emergent reader that my kids will adore.
It is perfect for celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday on Friday. Our students are coming in their jammies and I am saving this book as a surprise to take home at the end of the day. I used the word "fantastic" because kids can actually sound it out when you break it up into chunks and I love when their light bulb goes on and they figure it out! Naturally, I used repetitive text when I created it but I still need to make the teacher's version so I can laminate it and be ready...

I am so excited about this! I can't wait for you to post it -- I'll definitely be purchasing it. My kiddos absolutely adored your Washington and Lincoln emergent readers, and really retained what we discussed because they were also reading it at home.

You inspired me to try my hand at writing my own emergent reader to match our study of Betsy Ross and the Pledge of Allegiance... I'm anxious to see how they go over with my kiddos and cooperating teacher!

Hi!!

IS this something that we can purchase? I am doing a week of Seuss and finishing up our Fairy Tale unit with a Royal Ball!

Thanks Kristina

I will put this up but it might not be today so I will try to do so.

I am doing ten things at the same time and doing a poor job on all of them!

I hope you're selling this one too. My kids LOVE the Lincoln and Washington books, not to mention the Gingerbread book. They have retained the information too. I almost cried when I asked one of my lower students to tell me where Lincoln was born and he quickly replied, "Kentucky!" Their drawings were wonderful! Scrappin' Doodles artwork is the perfect complement to your text.

Hi Fran,
This looks like fun in the making. A thought about laminating the teacher version...I was pressed for time with your teacher version of the Washington book so I slipped the teacher version in some of those protective plastic sleeves and popped them in a pocket folder with the prongs. I wrote the title and drew George with a sharpie..they loved it. With 60+ students handling books, even my laminted books are taking a beating. We'll see how the sleeve protector ones hold up.

hi Fran,
I looked for your e-mail,but didn't see it. I wanted to write back after you left me a kind comment on my blog. It was very exciting to get a message from "Fran Kramer".
I think the world of Kaye Espinosa. I would love to go to the I Teach K conference, especially to meet you. I will check it out. Are you presenting? I did go to the I teach K conference a couple years ago and they sent me a letter to ask who I would like to see, and I put your name down.
thanks again for taking a look at my blog. I am really new to this fun and addicting blogging.

That is cute that your husband helped you out! :) The other day my husband came to help me in the classroom and before he knew it, he was cutting out giant teeth for Dental Health Month :).
