Scissors Are For Cutting Paper... Not Hair!

I bet that title got your attention. If you are a kinder teacher you know exactly what I am talking about. Who has ever seen a child get a fresh haircut in your classroom given by a friend? My heart always sinks when I see this. Naturally it's never a boy but the little girl with the bright red bows and hair down to her waist. These are phone calls I do not enjoy making so my kids always repeat after me..."Scissors are for cutting paper, not hair!"  Here are some cut and paste activities for cvc words. If you are following me it's my way of thanking you.

Me too! It is the best grade of all. Kindergarten teachers are the smartest, most giving teachers in the world. What is it about this grade level that attracts such big-hearted people with such generous spirits?

Thank you, Fran!

And, PLEASE, I'm begging, can you tell me how to make my google documents "clickable"?! I followed the directions on GoogleDocs, but it just isn't working!! I made a "Seed To Plant--Observations" worksheet to share. :-)

I think all kindergarten teachers will agree cutting hair is terrible. However, last year (my first year of teaching) I had a little girl cut her TONGUE with safety scissors! It was beyond horrifying. So our class chant is "Scissors are for paper, not bodies."

OMG you poor thing. I have to admit I laughed outloud when I read this. You have made my day! I love this comment.

I have been using Words Their Way sound sorting pictures all year with my Kindergarten students. This past week I gave the children your CVC cut a paste worksheets. They love them and want more! Your worksheets were the reward for all their hard work this year.

I always always always tell my Special Needs students that ONLY MOM AND DAD know when you need hair cut and they are not to cut their own hair!!!!!!!!! So far they have believed me! One yr I had a mom call me and ask where one of her son's (little) braids was. I didn't know he had cut his hair! Mom later found it in his pocket. Now I always do my hair cut mantra!!!!!!!
