Maybe I bought a few eggstra eggs...

What do you use your leftover plastic eggs for once Easter is over? These can hold all kinds of interesting things and it just requires using some serious creativity. For a long time I was able to resist buying them on sale until I walked into my local Dollar Tree. Oh no. These eggs are in the shape of bunnies, chicks and cutest of all, carrots. They stand up on their own... yup ,adorable. My head started to spin with ideas and naturally I filled up my cart, reassuring myself that I needed them... desperately. I even bought green baskets to hold a set. Perfect fit.
The hubby was out of town so that made it even easier to go totally overboard with this. You can buy three of them for a dollar which makes them pretty darn cheap....right? I went home and decided creating cvc centers would be perfect and just what my class needed. Here are a few pictures of my ideas and my partner will love me for color coding each card and mat. Just maybe they won't get all mixed up. Now on to math. I have a jillion few more containers staring at me right now! I might even put this in my TpT store
cause they're sooooooo cute.

Seriously, where are all of you finding all these cute eggs. I've been to Target, Walmart, KMart, and the Dollar Store and all I have found are Hello Kitty and Camo eggs...I know you could probably come up with something uber creative to do with Hello Kitty and Camo eggs, but I'm at a loss :0)

Everything is super cute Fran!

Rachelle,
I plan on giving you the biggest hug possible... are you kidding? I am so exciting to share a lunch with you and the other gorgeous ladies.

Shannon,
The eggs are in Dollar Tree and it has to be a Dollar Tree. I love them because they stand up and are pretty generic so the boys won't groan and think they are too girly!

Ohhhh, more eggs for me to buy! One of my recent posts was about my wee little Easter egg obsession: frogs, ladybugs, bees, fish, chicks and more.

We have several cvc and ccvc eggs activities like that. My kiddos love them!

Thank you for the sweet, sweet comment on my blog! You made my day...and week! =)

We get A LOT of mail and packages. My kiddos adore it! =)

I bought the same exact eggs about a month ago. I saw them last year and missed out. I even bought the carrots that we used for our Teddy Bear Picnic. Love what you did with your chicks and bunnies. Love it!! Thanks for sharing!

Ooooooo...I hope you will put these on TpT! I ran right out to Dollar Tree after I saw your post today. We just got back and I bought 4 packs of each critter. They are so darn cute! If you don't sell them, I'm gonna have to make up activities, because I HAVE to use these in my room! Thanks for the inspiration Fran:)

I promise to put them on TpT. because I am in love with these. The kids will adore this and the containers are great for moving them from table to table! So fun!

Hi Fran,
If you ever come by Jacksonville,FL please let us know. You have many fans and followers here. My kids love your readers, activities, etc. Please, please place this on TPT. I bought the containers at Dollar tree and I am ready to make the works. I saw an activity where they used the chicks to shake the dice for addition. They used the carrot to hold scrambled sentences. Thanks again.

Tell my fans I love them all. I hope they leave comments and I am thrilled they like my materials so much. Thanks for making my day special. I made scrambled sentences when I first bought these. I guess it's the most obvious idea but so cute to do. I think I love how mini all of it is!
I will put them on TpT!

I have spring break next week, but I am sure they can still do these after Easter right? Not sure I can fit them in by Thursday, but i will try.

Have a super time at the meet-up this weekend. I wish I could go! Enjoy all of the hugs and great conversations!

I coded my letter tiles by placing matching smile stickers on the back of each tile and on the bottom of each egg. Really helped with lost tiles! Such a cute idea!
