Cupcakes Make Learning Fun

My students love the routines I do when we are starting our day and this is a particular favorite. Once again the cupcakes fit right into a pocket chart and I hide the sprinkes behind a word they might be having trouble with. We chant this little rhyme until someone comes up to pull the card they have read and the sprinkles are behind the card. This causes so much excitement. The children have suggested I make them real cupcakes to match these!
Assessments are coming soon and this provides much needed practice!

This will be so much fun! I will be adding some of our "challenge" words and color words to this list...do you use Open Court? It seems we have the same list of sight words.

This is so cute!!! Would you be willing to share the little rhyme you say with the kids? I have played this same sort of game with a gemstone. We call it "Hide the Jewel". I have also varied it around the holidays. For example, we hid the groundhog during the week of Groundhog's Day, etc. LOVE the cupcakes!!!

I was wondering if you had sheet with out words on it so we could make more. My daughter really thinks these are cool but we need more words than are on the print out. Thanks
