This would be adorable as the front of a Mother's Day card too instead of a child's hand print. Hummm. Anyhow this clip art is from DJInkers and I am happy to give you a copy if this will help get you through the last few weeks! Grab it here. Wow, I am so crazy at this point from all that needs to be done!

TpT is Sick and Needs Rest: Oh No!
I just finished this little mini center for addition, went to post it on Tpt and found out that the site is sick and needs some rest. It sounds like my problem. So if you want these for tomorrow you can get them on Teachers Notebook for 2.00 here. Have bunches of fun with leftover eggs or carrots!

It All Adds Up to Kinder Friendly!
So I made a kindergarten mat that I can use later in the year and the recording part is right on it!
I can laminate it or just run it off for individual use at a station.
The clipart was done by my friend Makda and I love it!

Who's Keeping Score?
Here is another independent activity in math that goes along with our Open Court unit on Teamwork.
My students can't get enough of these and the "score sheet" will let me know who the winners are! OMG I forgot the download. By the way the math downloads are in honor of our book study! Click here for the download! Please leave a comment if you grab this and join me for our book discussion. No excuses...
okay.
Directions for this activity:
1. Run off these images and put sticky dots on each ball. Make these as simple or as difficult as you want.
2. Laminate them .
3. Students add the dots together on matching balls to get a total and record them on a sheet that I have provided.
Now ... play ball!

Count Your Blossoms
Who knew the kids would love this activity? I think it is so darn cute. We used colored stamp pads and the kids used their finger to make the center of each flower. Then I had them use a black marker to make the pedals of the flowers. We added stems and leaves to this. Each student had his own math fact to draw so it was easy to differentiate. This was fun for them and I used washable stamp pads so clean-up was simple. I had to get in on the fun and make one too! Sorry. I just needed to confess...

What we are doing in math this week:
This week I am using these mats to work on addition skills in my classroom. I colored the penguin's hat and scarf on the left green and made the one on the right orange. This is easier for kindergarten children to understand than left and right. I still have little ones pledging with the wrong hand! I am going to use unifix cubes in green and orange to have them build addition stories. Okay this is nothing new (you are thinking)
but I was in Walmart today and bought a cookie sheet for $4.00 that is magnetic. In another aisle I found magnetic tape that is adhesive on one side.
So now I can use this with a small group and model the activity easily and have students come up and manipulate the cubes. I will put magnetic tape on the cubes so they will adhere to the cookie sheet too.
Now everyone will be able to see what I am doing and this is a great way to provide guided practice for them. The number line at the top is a great way to use the cubes to figure out the missing addend. You might put 4 green cubes on and have students count how many more they need to get to 6.
