Here Are Some Delicious Apple Activities

 As we approach the end of September (Can you believe that?) it is time to start thinking about progress reports which are crazy to do with kindergarten students. Those of us with 31 kiddos want to pull our hair out since any assessment for this age is done individually. OMG, what does a teacher do to maintain her sanity or what's left of it? Bust open this packet. laminate the pages and set up some math and literacy stations for your students to do independently. Does this sound like a plan?

These are easy enough for your students to do with a little modeling and screaming  training. It is packed with apple activities in both reading and mathematics and I even included the famous Kindergarten Crayons emergent readers that you are constantly asking for. Brace Yourself for Learning!

Here is the next map I will be working on in my room. I plan to do a guided drawing activity which will allow my students to practice making the parts of an apple. This is a great map for them to practice in kindergarten since it is so concrete. I will post their work when I complete this. Labeling is part of this activity too. I love when they draw the parts of an apple and when they get to the whole they make it a different color. Really? Wow that's when I know I didn't get my point across at all!

Apple Pickin' Not Nose Pickin'

My partner wants to do a mini unit on apples because she loves all the activities around this. She loves making applesauce, graphing different apple tasting favorites, counting with apples, mapping apples, and patterning with them too. So I will be doing apple pickin' activities that reflect our standards. Right now we are working on patterns and I like the idea of apple patterning by size! Now I need Pete with an apple too! Would you like this as a freebie or there is enough out there?
First, I practice these in a pocket chart to be sure the children can"read" the pattern and verbalize it. After a few days of this I will give them this cut and paste with 2 different images to use. I find that too many choices just confuses and overwhelms them. KISS: Keep It Super Simple!
