What's New In My Store With A FREEBIE!

Hi there friends. I have been working on several products for my TpT store over summer break and I finally have a few to show you. This is Spotlight on Numbers which can be purchased in my TpT store. Take a look at these pages to get a sense of what is included. 

My students are addicted to bingo daubers and will do anything to get one in their little hands. Does that sound familiar. Daubers are beginning to show up in lots of places now but I particularly like the ones in Dollar Tree and at the Target Dollar Spot. I found Darice Bingo Markers in a Teacher Supply Store and they were fairly inexpensive. You can purchase them at Amazon too. 

Here are some photographs of this product so you can see  actual pictures in "real life." Students make their own Number Book which focuses on numbers from 1-20. It has been carefully aligned to the Common Core, just so ya know!

Are You Going Dotty With CC Math?

This is my latest packet and my teachers are loving it. Students have an opportunity to use dot markers to mark different visual representations for numbers 1-20 and to practice oral language  justifying their answers. "I marked this one because_______." This is what Common Core is all about. Right? A tall order for our ELL babies. Our students need to learn how to use "math talk". Mission impossible? Not with this little packet. I even show you how to use a collaborative model (group of 4) to work on these pages so children build their knowledge together. Join me on this Common Core journey. You've Been Framed!

 So here is my latest product and I think it's really a winner. It is a series of mini books that hit many of the Common Core Standards for Number Sense. In addition I made guiding posters to use when teaching these concepts. Students get a "Number Expert" award when they have mastered these concepts.If you are interested in these you can purchase them here. Ten frames are a crucial concept and this is addressed in these mini books. You can use a bingo marker, highlighter, or crayon to fill in your frame. The teacher posters are laminated and can be used in a math center, using play dough to represent the appropriate number. Students need lots of experiences with this concept and this packet will bring it home! Easy-peasy.

Here is a DIY teaching tool that will really help your students understand ten frames and can provided them with hands-on practice that will keep them engaged. Follow the directions and you can make them quickly and easily so get your "craft on." The teacher tray and student trays (smaller) are available at the Dollar Tree.

The glass beads were purchased at Dollar Tree but the glue and all the magnets were purchased at Walmart for just a few dollars. When you use a circle punch it saves you massive amounts of time since you can grab scraps of cute paper and punch your circles in seconds. Place the Modge Podge right on the bottom of the glass bead with the right side facing up when you turn the bead over!  Is this clear as mud? Add the heavy magnet with this glue called Amazing Goop.

The mat has adhesive magnets on the back so it doesn't slide around and can be changed to use with other concepts. The little trays are also available at Dollar Tree and can be used by students in a small group or at a math station. They go perfectly with my Number Books and students can save their little books in a baggie to use with a partner. These are perfect for homework. Stay with me because the magnets on the little trays can be purchased at Walmart but I used adhesive dots to make them in the color I needed... BRILLIANT right? Applause, please. I hope this makes sense. Kids love little foldables and I love playing with magnets, don't you? 

Stop Running Around In Circles: Make It Easy to Teach Common Core Math

It takes real courage to put scissors in the hands of a five year old. However, often our children have had limited experience with this crucial fine motor skill. So you want  to look for activities that allow for this.

This packet helps students to look at numbers in a variety of ways, including the number word itself. They have an opportunity to discuss them, use manipulatives to build number sense, and place them in the circle at the top, bottom, left, or right. In addition, a bit of number writing is included. These truly bundles your standards and allows yo to hit many of them at the same time which builds their understandings. I recommend buying this with the thought of  using it over several moments as your children develop number sense. You should visit these pages more than once to build their confidence.

How would you implement a packet of this type?

1. You might want to draw these circles on large chart paper as you work on each number. If you do it systematically, students will be able to build their knowledge and understandings. You want them to see patterns and relationships. 

2. These sheets can be introduced during small group instruction and worked on under supervision using manipulatives to help the children work on these skills.

3. This packet can be made into a student book to be saved as part of a portfolio.

4. Use these sheets once you have introduced  all the numbers through 20 and use as an assessment. Test them on what has been taught! This makes it valid.

5. They can also be used as a part of your math work stations.

6. These are authentic pages to send home for homework, once it has been modeled and taught.

Be sure to look at the pizza pan activity I show in a previous post and realize that you can do the same type of activity with numbers versus letters and sounds. I will post a sample of this if I can. Awards are provided once your students have mastered these numbers.
